The ‘future of Future of Greater Manchester’ was very much on show at our fizzing summer party on 20th July! A crowd of 80+ (despite rail strikes) shared connections, inspiring chat, a snapshot of FoGM plans and lovely food & drink courtesy of generous hosts Rider Levett Bucknall.
The animated group mixed cross-sector top execs, rising Future of GM Leaders alumni and freshly minted graduates from Programme Lead Judi Greenwood’s young professionals network.
Judi said: “The excitement in the room was palpable, I couldn’t think of a better time to bring together such a powerful network that really is the Future of Greater Manchester.”
Future of GM/London Executive Director Lisa Taylor, who hands over to Judi in 2024, said: “This friendly, buzzy event marks the next step in our evolution, adding young practitioners and a new Diverse Voices network to our acclaimed cross-sector leadership offer. Backed by our 5,000-strong existing network, this group can support each other to deliver the best for the people of Greater Manchester.”
Board and steering group member and core sponsor (and mentor and speaker!) Suzanne Benson talked about now needed this open and supportive network is. On that note, we also announced the Future of GM 2023 Mentor Award for Paul Richards, Stockport Mayoral Development Corp CEO. Paul was nominated by Karl Astbury of the Resilient Cities Network, who said his mentoring during Leaders Plus was crucial for his journey.
Huge thanks to all who attended, and to the sponsors and champions who stuck with us through those first lockdown years to get this far: GMCA, Hatch, Trowers & Hamlins and Arup. If you want your organisation to join them in reaching the next milestone for Greater Manchester’s rising talent, get in touch!
