Future of GM’s alumni network is a thriving community that fosters rich, lasting connections and supports professional growth. These are cross-sector place and social impact leaders who enliven Future of GM and contribute to a better Greater Manchester. You probably alread know some of our Leaders Plus and Future Leaders candidates, GM Alumni and/or 1,100+ national alumni with sister Future of London, set up in 2008.
Future of GM’s alumni programme kicked off in late 2023 with a backstage visit to Aviva Studios, followed a study visit to Altrincham with Planit and Civic, a Stockport update with Place Collective, informal socials, and guest spaces on our Leaders programmes. Alumni have priority for all Future of GM events; join the mailing list to see what’s on.
We also share ‘People Moves’ in the alumni newsletter; repost LinkedIn job vacancies for alumni; offer speaking, writing, mentoring and board opportunities; and provide light-touch career support in perpetuity.
To make our offer relevant, alumni are directly involved at every level, including live input into course content. The alumni below are all on Future of GM’s board of directors and help shape our programme and business direction. Recent Events
July 1 – Summer Celebration + Alumni Awards
Our summer celebration brought the network together. Alongside recognising our alumni award winners, we heard from bursary recipients on the vital role of the voluntary and community sector in shaping better places. Congratulations to our award winners, recognised for their leadership in Inclusive Growth, Impact, Collaboration, Climate & Resilience and Innovation. Their work is creating stronger communities, more sustainable places and better outcomes across Greater Manchester. See more.
May 13 – Mentor Dinner: How do we help people and places feel safe(r) in such volatile times?
Caroline Field, partner at event sponsor PA Consulting, led an insightful discussion to our full house of mentors at new venue Elnecot in May.
