On 11th January Future of Greater Manchester hosted the Leaders Plus 4 Proposals and Graduation event at Manchester Art Gallery’s inspiring ‘Urban Landscapes’ room, peering into the future of street space – and of Greater Manchester cross-sector leadership!
With encouragement from Mayor of GM Andy Burnham and GMCA Chief Executive Eamonn Boylan, candidates presented four short, sharp Proposals for GM on ‘Reclaiming the Street’ to a full house of influential and rising place practitioners from the public and private sector. Not many third-sector connections were able to attend, which spurred us to push harder on our bursary programme, and we now have three charity candidates on 2024 Leaders – thanks to the Mayor for highlighting the gap!
Attendees learned, connected, debated and celebrated, as this game-changing cohort graduated in the company of Future of GM’s dynamic & diverse network, including at an unscheduled ‘outdoor mixer’ due to a fire alarm. Kudos to all for making the most of it in true Northern spirit!
Huge thanks to programme sponsors Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Hatch, Trowers & Hamlins and Arup and event co-sponsor Coherent Cities.
