Future of GM Leaders launch into 2024

2024 is a year of exciting firsts, kicking off with Leaders Plus graduation at the iconic Manchester Art Gallery, then launching our first full GM Future Leaders course in early February, with GM Leaders Plus Round 5 hot on its heels in early March. Now that our small but hardworking team has recovered from the blitz (we still need a nap!), here’s a taste of what the two courses are about and who’s on them:

GM Future Leaders is Future of GM’s cross-sector place leadership programme for practitioners starting to lead teams; transitioning from subject expert to manager; switching careers; or taking on major new projects and stakeholder groups. Candidates work together for 6 months, gaining leadership skills from facilitator Laurence Knott, guest speakers, field trips tied to course content, plus mentors from other organisations, including Future of GM alumni. The programme closes with group presentations on 19th July – all welcome! Find out more about the course here.

This year, Future Leaders launched at Trowers & Hamlins and is hosted by Cushman & Wakefield, Arup, Muse, Contact Theatre and Rider Levett Bucknall. Big thanks to all of them and to our fantastic mentors!

GM Leaders Plus is our next-level programme for senior managers, heads or directors already navigating significant risk and responsibility. Candidates work together for 10 months, gaining leadership skills from facilitators Miffa Salter and Aidan Kearney, Expert Insights from sector leaders, plus relevant field trips and top mentors, closing with Proposals for GM on 25th January 2025. Topics such as Leading through Crisis & Change, Resilience and Sustaining Partnerships provide real-world tools and insights to make places better for people. Like Future Leaders, there’s lots of networking time during the day to build cross-sector awareness. Find out more about the course here.

This year, Leaders Plus is based in large part at Arup, and is also hosted by Trowers & Hamlins, Avison Young and WSP. Big thanks to all of them and to the [equally!] fantastic Leaders Plus mentors.
